Ohio Secretary of State confirms 2004 election could have been stolen

Ohio's Secretary of State announced this morning that a $1.9 million official study shows that "critical security failures" are embedded throughout the voting systems in the state that decided the 2004 election. Those failures, she says, "could impact the integrity of elections in the Buckeye State." They have rendered Ohio's vote counts "vulnerable" to manipulation and theft by "fairly simple techniques."

Indeed, she says, "the tools needed to compromise an accurate vote count could be as simple as tampering with the paper audit trail connector or using a magnet and a personal digital assistant."

In other words, Ohio's top election official has finally confirmed that the 2004 election could have been easily stolen.

Brunner's stunning findings apply to electronic voting machines used in 58 of Ohio's 88 counties, in addition to scanning devices and central tabulators used on paper ballots in much of the rest of the state.

Brunner is calling for widespread changes to the way Ohio casts and counts its ballots. Her announcement follows moves by California Secretary of State Deborah Bowen to disqualify electronic voting machines in the nation's biggest state.

In tandem, these two reports add a critical state-based dimension to the growing mountain of evidence that the US electoral system is rife with insecurities. Reports from the Brennan Center, the Carter-Baker Commission, the Government Accountability Office, the Conyers Committee Task Force Report, Princeton University and others have offered differing perspectives that add up to the same conclusion.

Coming in the state that decided the 2004 election for George W. Bush, Brunner's confirmation of the electoral system's vulnerabilities adds huge new weight to the charge that the Buckeye State's vote count was stolen.

In a series of investigative reports dating to well before the 2004 election, the Columbus Free Press and Freepress.org have documented several dozen different means used by the Bush-Cheney re-election campaign to steal the official 2004 vote count.

The final official tally for Bush---less than 119,000 votes out of 5.4 million cast---varied by 6.7% from exit poll results, which showed a Kerry victory. Exit polls in 2004 were designed to have a margin of error of about 1%.

In various polling stations in Democrat-rich inner city precincts in Youngstown and Columbus, voters who pushed touch screens for Kerry saw Bush's name light up. A wide range of discrepancies on both electronic and paper balloting systems leaned almost uniformly toward the Bush camp. Voting procedures regularly broke down in inner city and campus areas known to be heavily Democratic.

In direct violation of standing federal election law, 56 of Ohio's 88 counties have since destroyed all or part of their 2004 election data. The materials were additionally protected by a federal court injunction in the King-Lincoln-Bronzeville federal civil rights lawsuit (in which we are attorney and plaintiff). To date, no state or federal prosecutions have resulted from this wholesale destruction of presidential election records, including 1.6 million ballots, cast and uncast, needed for definitive auditing procedures. However, two Cuyahoga County (Cleveland) election officials have been convicted of felony manipulation of an official recount. The Cleveland Plain-Dealer, the state's largest newspaper, recently editorialized that there is "no evidence" the 2004 election was stolen, but omitted mention of the destruction of the electoral records by more than half the counties in the state. The Plain-Dealer and other mainstream media have consistently ignored findings by the Free Press and others indicating widespread manipulation and theft of the kind Brunner has now confirmed was eminently do-able within the Ohio system.

Brunner says "the results underscore the need for a fundamental change in the structure of Ohio's election system to ensure ballot and voting system security while still making voting convenient and accessible to all Ohio voters." Among other things, she advocates replacing touch-screen machines with optical-scan units that include a paper balloting system.

The study was managed by the Battelle Corporation, and conducted by Columbus-based MicroSolved Inc., SysTest Labs of Denver along with a consortium of academic subcontractors. It was reviewed by a dozen county officials, and included scrutiny of voting systems produced by Election Systems & Software (ES&S), Hart Intercivic and Premier Election Solutions (formerly Diebold).

Brunner is the Democratic successor to Republican J. Kenneth Blackwell, who administered the 2004 election as Secretary of State while also serving as state co-chair of the Bush-Cheney campaign. The report comes as part of her pledge to guarantee a fair and reliable vote count in the upcoming 2008 presidential election.

Under Blackwell, Ohio spent some $100 million installing electronic voting machines as part of the Help America Vote Act, passed by Congress in the wake of the scandals surrounding the 2000 election. Former Ohio Congressman Bob Ney, HAVA's principle author, now resides in a federal prison, in part for illegalities surrounding his dealings with voting machine companies.

Blackwell, who was defeated in a 2006 race for the Ohio governorship, outsourced web hosting responsibilities for the 2004 vote count to a programming firm that also programmed the web site for the 2000 Bush-Cheney campaign. Blackwell's chosen host site for the state's vote count was in the basement of the Old Pioneer Bank Building in Chattanooga, Tennessee, where the servers for the Republican National Committee, and the Bush White House, were also located.

Brunner has now recommended that all Ohio's voting be done on optical scan ballots, with reliance on central tabulation. Voters with disabilities could use AutoMark machines with bar coding devices that allow the marking of ballots with little or no additional assistance.

"It's a testament to our state's boards of elections officials that elections on the new (federally) mandated voting systems have gone as smoothly as they have in light of these findings," Brunner said.

Conversely, it is also a testament to the ease with which the 2004 election was stolen by election officials who had clear conflicts of interest aimed at keeping George W. Bush in the White House.

Two influential lawmakers investigating how and when the Bush administration learned the circumstances of Pat Tillman's friendly-fire death and how those details were disclosed accused the White House and Pentagon on Friday of withholding key documents and renewed their demand for the material.

The White House and Defense Department have turned over nearly 10,000 pages of papers — mostly press clippings — but the White House cited "executive branch confidentiality interests" in refusing to provide other documents.

House Oversight Committee Chairman Henry Waxman, D-Calif., and Tom Davis, R-Va., the committee's top-ranking Republican, said Friday the documents were inadequate. They insisted that the Defense Department turn over the additional material by July 25 and asked that the White House do likewise.

Tillman, a San Jose native, turned down a lucrative contract with the NFL's Arizona Cardinals to join the Army following the Sept. 11 attacks. He was killed April 22, 2004, by friendly fire in Afghanistan.

Although Pentagon investigators determined quickly that he was killed by his own troops, five weeks passed before the circumstances of his death were made public. During that time, the Army claimed he was killed by enemy fire.

Tillman's family and others have said they believe the erroneous information peddled by the Pentagon was part of a deliberate cover-up that may have reached all the way to President Bush and then-Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld. The committee said Friday it had scheduled a second hearing on Tillman's death for Aug. 1, this time to probe what senior Pentagon officials knew and when.

Rumsfeld and Richard Myers, the former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, were among those the committee invited Friday to appear.

The White House has turned over nearly 1,100 pages of documents and the Defense Department nearly 8,500 pages since the committee requested information from them in April, part of an inquiry into why Tillman's family and the public were misled.

"The document production from the White House sheds virtually no light on these matters," Waxman and Davis wrote to White House counsel Fred Fielding, part of a renewed request for additional papers.

The committee made public a letter last month in which Fielding said the White House was holding back certain papers "because they implicate executive branch confidentiality interests." He added the White House had blacked out portions of "purely internal e-mails between White House personnel."

The White House's argument for withholding some papers is the same one it used last month as it rejected congressional subpoenas for documents in the firings of eight U.S. attorneys. Executive "confidentiality" is a lesser claim than "executive privilege"

more a polite way of declining than a firm refusal — and thus still leaves room for negotiation, congressional staffers involved in the matter said.

Fielding added the White House had blacked out portions of "purely internal e-mails between White House personnel."

Waxman and Davis fired back that "these are not appropriate reasons for withholding the documents from the committee." And they charged that the White House had simply held other papers back.

In particular, they expressed doubt that the two documents they'd received on communications between the White House and Pentagon on Tillman's death were the only ones of their kind. One was simply a packet of newspaper clippings.

"Corporal Tillman's death was a major national story," they wrote. "It is not plausible that there were no communications between the Defense Department and the White House about Corporal Tillman's death."

"The committee was fully aware that certain documents were withheld as our letter to them made clear last month — along with our offer to discuss possible accommodation that meets the committee's interests while respecting separation of powers principles," Blair Jones, a White House spokesman, said Friday evening. "We continue to offer an opportunity for the committee to move forward in a spirit of accommodation, rather than conflict."

Waxman and Davis complained to Defense Secretary Robert Gates of a "failure to provide a complete production to the committee." For instance, the committee received no documentation on how Rumsfeld learned of Tillman's death.

They said the Pentagon had not produced any papers from, among others, the offices of Gen. John Abizaid, then head of Central Command.

A week after Tillman died, a top general sent a memo to Abizaid warning that it was "highly possible" that Tillman was killed by friendly fire. The memo made clear that the information should be conveyed to the president. The White House said there is no indication that Bush received the warning.

Two days later, the president mentioned Tillman in a speech to the White House correspondents dinner, but he made no reference to how Tillman had died.

A White House spokeswoman did not immediately respond to requests for comment Friday.

Separately, Waxman asked the Republican National Committee for copies of e-mail communications that involved Tillman and White House officials. That request was an outgrowth of the oversight committee's finding last month that 88 White House officials had e-mail accounts with the RNC, and that the administration may have committed extensive violations of a law requiring that certain records be preserved.

Not mentioned in this report is that Tillman was not a religious man. Apparently that is not ok in today's military. Our commander in chief wants everyone to be the same brand of Christianity, and those that are not are routinely harrassed by superior officers. There is a theory that Tillman was vocal about this harrassment......

Here is a speech which I am convinced that President Bush would deliver to the American people if he knew that the majority would be gullible enough to swallow it:

“My fellow Americans, we are living in a world of great insecurity and terrorism, which we certainly did not bring upon ourselves. Therefore, this is the time that calls for extreme patriotism on everybody’s part.

“So I say to you, ask not what your country can do for you, but ask what you can sacrifice for your country. Your patriotism can only be measured by the amount of sacrifices that you are willing to make for the sake of your country.

“Of course, our military personnel must risk and even sacrifice their lives for their country. Although we do appreciate their heroism, we must ask that these brave men and women make further sacrifices . To help prevent our country from going into complete bankruptcy, we are forced to cut your benefits to a minimum. So I ask you veterans to bear your pain and suffering as long as possible or even risk death because it may take many months before many of you can check into a veterans’ hospital. And you thousands of veterans diagnosed with personality disorders will get no veteran benefits at all; thus saving your country a heck of a lot of money.

“Children of America must also make sacrifices. Children born in poverty should not expect to get help from the government. Hunger and malnutrition must be endured as an expression of patriotism . You children must realize that the federal government is too poor because of war costs and because of tax cuts for the wealthy to provide adequate funds for your education. So your hard-working parents will just need to pay higher state and local taxes to take up the slack and to meet federal mandates for which the feds will not pay one penny in order to leave no child behind.

“The elderly are also asked to make sacrifices. Most are living with very limited incomes and are on strict budgets. The many who need expensive prescription drugs to control their ailments or pains or even to survive must endure undue stress to obtain their medicines by buying less food or less nutritious foods, by cutting back on heating and utility costs, and by going deeper into debt. So I salute the elderly for making these and more sacrifices for their country.

“The working people are also to be congratulated for the sacrifices that they are making. Many are trying to support themselves and their families on minimum wage jobs. But such working people must consider themselves lucky because there are many others who are unemployed, mainly due to jobs being exported to foreign countries for the benefits of international corporations.. So be of good cheer. You are great patriots because of your sacrifices.

The forty plus million Americans who must try to survive with no health insurance and thus are subject to pain and suffering before they come to an early death are also making supreme sacrifices for their country by not being dependent on the government for their medical care.

With the exception of the ruling class, all Americans are asked to give up their rights guaranteed to them by the U.S. Constitution. Your liberties must be sacrificed for the sake of national security. If your government doesn’t take away your rights, then our enemies most certainly will. Yes, I do salute you fine Americans who are willing to give up your rights to preserve freedom in our country.

Middle class Americans deserve great praise for the sacrifices that they are making in carrying a heavy tax burden so that tax cuts can be given to the super rich. The wealthy class needs this extra income from tax cuts for additional investments in international corporations. And these investments will go a long way in creating jobs, jobs in foreign countries where labor is cheap. So you middle class citizens will have to sacrifice by tightening your belts in order to pay your unfair share of thr taxes.

We also ask that parents sacrifice their sons and daughters to serve in the military. To protect our country from foreign aggression, we must attack and invade what I perceive as evil nations before they attack us. We must keep in mind that any nation that is not with us is against us and is fair game for attack. So I ask that parents cheerfully give up their sons and daughters to fight in wars of my choosing. Thank you, thank you for patriotically sacrificing your children.

The super rich with their huge tax cuts and multi-billion dollar government contracts are also making a great sacrifice. They are sacrificing that wonderful glowing feeling that one gets from serving his country, as they go laughing all the way to the bank.

I apologize for not including many others who are deserving of recognition for their patriotic sacrifices, but the list would be too long to include everybody.

So let us always keep in mind that inspiring battle cry:

Ask not what your country can do for you. Ask what you can sacrifice for your country.

They say in those far eastern religions, if you don't like something the worst thing you can do is
give your negative energy to it; because then your just in a love/hate relationship with it and your cyclically
manifesting what you don't like.

as a systems theorist, a politician, and a sociologist, i'm having trouble with the umbrella size of the tribe.
I want to chat up all you intelligent patriots against bush, and, i am releived that i am not so alone.
on the other hand, i am more of a right action kind of person than a mudslinger.

This public hearing is one of the public's few chances to speak out against Big Media before FCC Chairman Kevin Martin moves to lift the last significant limits to runaway media consolidation.

Martin has promised to "hold public hearings in diverse locations around the country to fully involve the American people" in the FCC's review of media ownership rules. The Tampa event will be the fourth of "half a dozen" proposed hearings.

At the first official hearing, held in Los Angeles, more than 1,000 members of the public attended and overwhelming expressed their opposition to any rule changes that would let Big Media companies swallow up more local outlets. Similar sentiments were expressed in Nashville and Harrisburg, Pa..

The Federal Communications Commission is once again taking up the issue of media ownership and deciding how media ownership rules should be changed. As FCC Commissioner Michael Copps has warned: "They screwed it up once. Believe me, they're 100 percent capable of screwing it up again."

That's why it's crucial for the public to weigh in now. Here's what's at stake:

* Big Media stifle viewpoints: If a corporation like News Corp. can buy multiple media outlets in a single city or town, it gains immense influence over what information is available. Consolidated corporations strip local newsrooms of staff, while pushing aside competing points of view. That means less diversity of voices and a narrower range of debate.

* Big Media don't serve local communities: In exchange for their free and exclusive use of the public airwaves, broadcasters such as Sinclair are supposed to serve the public interest. Yet they frequently ignore important local issues, pander to sensationalism, provide biased coverage of elections, and stifle diverse viewpoints.

* Big Media ignore diversity: Corporate media conglomerates like Tribune Company are more concerned with profits than responsible programming. Coverage of issues important to people of color, the working class and rural citizens are squelched or ignored because these people aren't advertisers' target audiences.

Without ownership limits, giant national corporations can buy up local stations and newspapers, eliminate diverse, local and independent programming. If the FCC is serious about fostering localism and diversity, it must enact protections against consolidated corporate ownership.

For decades, the biggest media companies have had the ear of the FCC and Congress, while the public has been ignored. As the FCC rewrites is ownership rules and Congress debates legislation that will shape the entire media system for years to come, it's time our policymakers listened to the public, not just the corporate lobbyists.
Costs of Consolidation
In 2003, the Federal Communications Commission attempted to loosen media ownership rules that would have unleashed a massive wave of corporate consolidation of radio, television and newspapers entities across the country.

The courts sent these rules back to the FCC for a rewrite. Now, as the FCC embarks upon writing new rules, the stakes are even higher:

* A handful of media companies dominate what you watch on television. As their influence spreads to other outlets, the diversity of what you see diminishes.

Five media conglomerates — Viacom/CBS, Disney, Time Warner, News Corp. and NBC/GE — control the big four networks, 80 percent of the primetime television market share, most cable channels, as well as vast holdings in radio, publishing, movie studios, music, Internet and other sectors. Minority ownership — a crucial source of diverse and varied viewpoints -- has declined significantly over the past decade. Today, only 3.3% of television stations are minority-owned.

* Media conglomerates now stand to make incredible new profits from the public airwaves with no accountability to the public interest.

Over the next few years, television conglomerates will begin broadcasting digitally. This means that in the space it used to take to broadcast the local affiliate of ABC, NBC or CBS, these corporations will now be able to fit six or more stations — ABC-1, ABC-2, and so on. This opens up countless new revenue streams, and indeed, plans are already in the works to have infomercial-driven new channels pump up corporate profits.

The total worth of the publicly owned airwaves that U.S. broadcasters utilize has been valued at $367 billion -- more than the GDP of many nations — but the public has never been paid a dime in return. Now, these conglomerates claim they can't afford to be accountable to the public interest.

* Media consolidation has stifled independent voices and threatened public access to information.

Consolidation is killing local media choices. Since 1975, two-thirds of newspaper owners have disappeared, and one-third of television owners have vanished. There are less than 300 unique owners of the nation's 1,500 daily newspapers, and more than half of all U.S. markets are dominated by one paper.

Moreover, the number of radio station owners has plummeted by 35 percent since 1996, when ownership rules were gutted. That year, the largest radio owners controlled fewer than 65 stations; today, radio giant Clear Channel alone owns over 1,100.

* If the current ownership rules are eliminated, local communites will be turned into "company towns," where one media conglomerate dominates the public discourse.

Big Media wants the FCC to lift the restrictions on newspaper-broadcast cross-ownership and allow one company to own two or more television stations in a single market. If the rules are changed, the largest conglomerates will immediately begin swapping newspaper and television properties. Then the radio giants like Clear Channel will begin selling off their already consolidated radio holdings for billions to the other dominant companies, creating local and regional media fiefdoms.

If FCC Chairman Kevin Martin tries to push through changes similar to those rejected in 2003, one company could potentially own the major daily newspaper, eight radio stations and three television stations in the same town. Once the digital television transition is completed in 2009 – allowing stations to broadcast multiple signals – one company could control 12 or even 18 television channels in a single city.

EXAMINING THE BIBLICAL EVIDENCE THAT GEORGE BUSH IS ANTICHRIST

[Part 1 of 3]

Regarding “The End of Time” the Bible states:
"There will be signs in the heavens" (sky), which likely relates to the vast number of saucer-sightings since the 1st atomic test at Los Alamos NM. Also stating that ;
"There will be signs on earth" ... which likely relates to the many complex geometrical crop circles.
The Bible also makes reference to the rebirth of the State of Israel as a sign of the end, saying "The fig tree will put forth its branch" (Luke 21:29), and also that "One head of the beast came back to life from the dead" … again presumably The State of Israel which was revived in 1948 … an integral part of the Roman Empire ... referred to in the Bible as "The Beast" … (actually “monster” in original tongue).

Also an important signal is the prophesy of "Wormwood" -(Rev. 8:11) the word Wormwood is "Chernobyl" in Russian … a Nuclear Facility which could easily be depicted as a Fallen Star in metaphorical language (parables), being that stars are radioactive bodies as are reactors. Wormwood is an ancient medicinal herb (Artemisia Absinthium) which has been used for thousands of years to kill internal parasites and to make a liquor called Absinth, and is known around the world by several names.

It is possible that the world is much farther ahead in prophesy (1000 yrs.) than people are willing to accept having been conditioned and pre-programmed by intense institutional doctrine. They say that Anti-Christ must first set up his throne in Jerusalem. And the antichrist identity be revealed before Christ appears. The Bible states that a thousand years is a day and a day is a thousand years, so “The Day of The Lord” may be a metaphorical term relating to a time which is not measured, this time which is a metaphor and/or enigma.

I pointed out that Revelation speaks of a “new heaven” and a “new earth” ... and a "New JerUSAlem" ...Since it’s discovery America has been referred to as “The New World” !
A land which pursues the exploration of space (the “New Heaven”).

And one which fits the description of the "Promised Land" at least as well as Palestine (America being the worlds #1 producer of Milk ... it is said that the Biblical Promised Land "flows with milk.
America was the “Land of Promise” ... because it offered religious freedom to so many persecuted groups in Europe ... they migrated to "The Promised Land" that’s how Caucasians got here.

So wouldn’t then the "New JerUSAlem" be the power center of the New World (as is Washington DC) ? And wouldn’t this New JerUSAlem be the place where the antichrist sets up his throne ?
Revelation speaks of the New World having 12 gates, possibly the 12 main sea ports, which stretch from the Great Lakes to Seattle WA.

I realized that one such bible prophesy was fulfilled in the days of the crusades when the Christians took back Jerusalem, Revelation 14:20 says "The blood will run as high as the horses bridal". This event became documented history when forces led by the Knights Templar slaughtered Moslems to an extent which caused their horses to wade through rivers of blood 3 feet deep.
I am not suggesting that Moslems are evil either, only acknowledging the reality that they and Christians have been adversaries to each other since their origins, battling over control of Jerusalem.
To Christians Moslems are antichrist to Moslems Christians are the infidels. Actually to historians they are "half-brothers" locked in a sibling rivalry.

what the Tao Te Ching says about War and Aggression

the Tao Te Ching should be at the top of President Bush's list. Careening from crisis to crisis with approval ratings drooping, the president should consider the opening lines of chapter 80. “If a country is governed wisely, its inhabitants will be content.”

Tao Te Ching
Well known by its Chinese title, Tao Te Ching can be translated many different ways, including Book of the Immanence of the Way or simply Book of the Way. It is a 2,500 year old, essay-length poem about the Nature of Things. To those conversant in Chinese, it should be obvious the book is really a compilation of sayings, aphorisms, and pieces of wisdom passed down in oral tradition.

The Tao Te Ching divides roughly into two parts. The first is mostly about spiritual wisdom while the second, seemingly addressed to political leaders and their advisers, centers on social issues. An important lesson to be drawn from the book is that the character and beliefs of the people and their leaders are an integral part of good society and good government.

The teachings of the Tao Te Ching are available in many translations, but with one exception, I rely here on Stephen Mitchell's contemporary version. The wisdom of the Tao has also been applied to many disciplines: The Tao of Leadership, The Tao of Physics, and The Tao of Pooh. There is not yet a Tao of Bush. Making the Tao Te Ching required reading for President Bush could rescue the nation from the corruption, despair, and waste his administration has visited upon it.

On War
The Bush way was to initiate a war in Iraq which three years later shows no sign of abating. American military deaths in the war are over 2,200, and by the president's own admission, Iraqi civilian deaths exceed 30,000 with independent estimates as high as 100,000. The American occupation has brought civil war—not peace—to Iraq.

Instead of initiating a war, and then justifying it on discredited intelligence, what if the president had followed the path outlined in chapter 31 of the Tao. “Weapons are the tools of fear; a decent man will avoid them except in the direst necessity and, if compelled, will use them only with the utmost restraint. Peace is his highest value.” And many translations of the Tao add this warning: “And anyone who delights in killing people will come up short in the world.”

Elsewhere, the Tao makes clear the wise leader only resorts to force to prevent aggression or to restore order. Even then, it should be no more than a temporary action. The wisdom of China is that something is wrong when military force becomes a permanent social need. War, by its very nature, puts a nation out of harmony with the Tao.

When a country is in harmony with the Tao,
the factories make trucks and tractors.
When a country goes counter to the Tao,
warheads are stockpiled outside the cities.

On Civil Liberties
The Bush way is to bypass the system of judicial supervision established by law and order a secret wiretapping program to monitor international calls by U.S. citizens suspected of links to al-Qaida. Arguing the U.S. Constitution gives him the right to do so, the president accuses those who leaked details of the clandestine spy program of “threatening national security.” No matter that past and present government officials confirm the volume of information harvested by National Security Agency eavesdropping is much larger than the White House admits.

Most recently, President Bush asserted he retains the right to authorize abuse of detainees under extreme circumstances, despite agreeing to legislation in December 2005 explicitly prohibiting such treatment. In a recent statement, the White House said it would construe a ban on “cruel, inhumane, and degrading” treatment in the defense spending bill “in a manner consistent with the constitutional authority of the president” and his powers as commander-in-chief.

The Tao Te Ching has strong advice in chapter 75 for those who would seek to stifle civil liberties.

When taxes are too high,
people go hungry.
When the government is too intrusive,
people lose their spirit.

Act for the people's benefit,
Trust them; leave them alone.

Newly disclosed records also indicate counterterrorism agents at the Federal Bureau of Investigation have been conducting surveillance and intelligence-gathering operations involving advocacy groups active in causes as diverse as the environment, animal rights, and poverty relief.

Turning to the wisdom of the Tao, this time in chapter 17, “If you don't trust the people, you make them untrustworthy.”

On the Imperial Presidency
The Bush way is to bristle over challenges to executive authority in the so-called war on terror. In the midst of the growing scandal created by the National Security Council's wiretapping program, the Bush administration readily admits the decision to eavesdrop without warrants is part of a broader effort to reassert the powers of the presidency. The Tao way is to govern in moderation, following the will of the people.

If you want to govern the people,
you must place yourself below them.
If you want to lead the people,
you must learn how to follow them (chapter 66).

Chapter 68 adds in part, “The best leader follows the will of the people” while chapter 59 opens as follows, “For governing a country well there is nothing better than moderation.” Finally, chapter 60 begins, “Governing a large country is like frying a small fish. You spoil it with too much poking.”

On Fear
John Adams observed in his Thoughts on Government (1776) that “Fear is the foundation of most governments.” Taking this maxim to new heights, the Bush way is to trade on fear, invoking national security concerns to justify acts ranging from the invasion of Iraq to scrapping the Geneva Convention to spying on Americans. In his December 2005 Oval Office address, the president again suggested we had a choice between invading Iraq or risking a terrorist nuclear attack at home while fighting terrorists in Iraq meant we weren't fighting them at home. On his secret program of spying on Americans, he implied we must make a choice between saving lives or following the law. Chapter 46 of the Tao concludes:

There is no greater illusion than fear,
no greater wrong than preparing to defend yourself
no greater misfortune than having an enemy.

Whoever can see through all fear
will always be safe.

President Franklin D. Roosevelt reflected on the Tao approach when he cautioned in his first inaugural address, “The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.”

On Tax Cuts for the Rich
The Bush way is to push through tax cuts for the wealthy and pay for them with cuts in Medicare, Medicaid, and student loans. The Tao way as found in chapter 53 is the center where things are in balance.

When rich speculators prosper
while farmers lose their land;
when government officials spend money
on weapons instead of cures;
when the upper class is extravagant and irresponsible
while the poor have nowhere to turn—
all this is robbery and chaos.
It is not in keeping with the Tao.

A December 2005 study suggests working-age Americans earning $50,000 to $100,000 are two to six times more generous in the share of their investment assets donated to charity when compared to Americans earning more than $10 million a year. This pioneering study of federal tax data was completed by the NewTithing Group, a San Francisco-based philanthropic research organization encouraging the most prosperous Americans to give more.

When temptation arises to leave the Tao,
banish temptation, stay with the Tao.

When the court has adornments in profusion,
the fields are full of weeds,
and the granaries are bare.
It is not the way of nature to carry a sword,
nor to over-adorn oneself,
nor to have more than a sufficiency
of fine food and drink.

He who has more possessions than he can use,
deprives someone who could use them well. (chapter 53).

Religion and Government
The Bush way is to mix government and religion, pandering to the religious right and breaking down the division between church and state. The Tao way as found in chapter 72 is instructive.

When they lose their sense of awe,
people turn to religion.
When they no longer trust themselves,
they begin to depend upon authority.

Therefore the Master steps back
so that people won't be confused.
He teaches without a teaching,
so that people will have nothing to learn (chapter 72).

Conclusion
Can President Bush learn from the Tao Te Ching ? The Master is not optimistic.

My teachings are easy to understand
and easy to put into practice.
Yet your intellect will never grasp them,
and if you try to practice them, you'll fail (chapter 70).

War Is Terrorism With a Bigger Budget

Israeli war crimes continue unabated across Lebanon and Palestine

The Israeli aggression against Lebanon is a monstrous war crime in which the Zionist state has been aided and abetted by the U.S. government. The vicious Israeli assault on Lebanon has been accompanied by a host of lies that have been dutifully parroted by the Bush administration and the Zionist-controlled mass media.

After two weeks of fighting, at least 422 people, mostly civilians, have been killed in Lebanon and thousands more have been injured, while in Israel, 18 Israeli civilians are reportedly killed. Certainly, many more Lebanese dead will be found beneath the rubble of the many flattened residential buildings of south Beirut and southern Lebanon. Up to 750,000 Lebanese have been driven from their homes and have become refugees. Israel’s ethnic cleansing of south Lebanon is now a fact.

The controlled media lies about the Israeli aggression in Lebanon are similar to its propaganda about the terror attacks of 9-11. In both cases the gross deception foisted upon the public caused widespread misunderstanding of the facts and the identity of the guilty party.

A poll conducted by USA Today and Gallup found that 53 percent of the U.S. population blamed Hezbollah for the outbreak of hostilities between Israel and the popular Shi’ite resistance group based in south Lebanon. Hezbollah, which was formed in 1982 as a local resistance movement
to challenge the Israeli occupation, is increasingly popular today throughout the Arab and Muslim world because of its ability to confront Israel.

The Gallup poll reveals how successfully the media has deceived the American public about the current crisis in Lebanon. The poll found that 39 percent of respondents blamed Iran, while 29 percent blamed Syria. Lebanon, the beleaguered and devastated victim, was blamed by 27 percent while Israel, the party most clearly responsible for the criminal destruction of Lebanon, was only blamed by 15 percent of those polled. These results reveal the degree of Zionist mind control over American perceptions of the Middle East.

The poll, which was conducted as Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice departed for the region, found that 67% of the population does not think the Bush administration has a clear and well thought out policy in the Middle East, although it is obviously supporting the Zionist agenda.

ISRAELIS CAPTURED

In the controlled press, Hezbollah, branded as a “terrorist” group by the United States and Israel, is blamed for having sparked the crisis by having “kidnapped” two Israeli soldiers from Israeli territory on July 12. Iran and Syria are usually blamed for being the powers behind Hezbollah.

The initial news reports, however, indicate that the two Israeli soldiers were not kidnapped at all. They were reported to have been captured—inside Lebanon—after having crossed the border and entered the Lebanese village of Aitaa al-Chaab.

The capture of the Israeli soldiers inside Lebanon was reported by a number of leading international press services, including the German news agency (DPA), AP, AFP from France, and UPI Arabia.

“The Lebanese Shiite Hezbollah movement announced Wednesday that its guerrillas have captured two Israeli soldiers in southern Lebanon,” the DPA reported from Beirut on July 12.

“Implementing our promise to release the Arab prisoners in Israeli jails, our strugglers have captured at 9:05 a.m. two Israeli soldiers in southern Lebanon,” the Hezbollah statement said.

The BBC, usually quite precise, translated the Hezbollah statement as having said “captured two Israeli soldiers at the border with occupied Palestine.”

Lebanese police said the two Israeli soldiers had been captured as they “infiltrated” into the Lebanese town of Aitaa al-Chaab, which lies near the fortified border with Israel.

Early in the day, Joseph Panossian of the Associated Press reported that Hezbollah “captured two Israeli soldiers during clashes Wednesday across the border in southern Lebanon, prompting a swift reaction from Israel, which sent ground forces into its neighbor to look for them.”

“The two Israeli soldiers were captured in Lebanese territory, in the area of Aitaa al-Chaab, near to the border with Israel, where an Israeli unit had penetrated,” the Agence France Presse reported from Aitaa al-Chaab and Beirut.

On July 13, the DPA reported that Israel vehemently denied reports by Lebanese police that the two soldiers had been captured inside the Lebanese border. Israel said the soldiers had been on patrol on the Israeli side of the border fence.

Hezbollah Chief Sheikh Hassan Nasrallah said he would only return the captured soldiers through “indirect negotiations and an exchange of prisoners.”

“This is the only available way to release” Lebanese prisoners held in Israel,
he said. “The Israelis always first say they do not wish to negotiate but eventually they accept.”

Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert denounced what he called “kidnappings” as an “act of war” by one sovereign country against another. Olmert said, “Lebanon will bear the consequences of its actions,” and warned of a “very, very, very painful” response.

The Israeli response has been both disproportionate and illegal in its use of U.S. supplied precision-guided weapons, cluster bombs and phosphorus weapons to target civilians and civilian infrastructure.

The obvious falseness of the Israeli military claim that it does not target civilians was plain to see from the front page of The New York Times on July 22.

The lead story reported that the Bush administration was rushing a delivery of precision-guided bombs to Israel while the large color photograph next to the article showed some of the coffins of 86 civilians who had been killed in Tyre.

Reports on National Public Radio described how Israeli planes and helicopters had targeted civilian vehicles fleeing from their homes and villages in south Lebanon. One family’s car was struck just feet from the hospital in Tyre. In another case 23 of the 27 civilians in one truck were killed by an Israeli missile. An Israeli helicopter machine gunned a civilian vehicle killing all 9 civilians.

As Israel is wont to do, a number of Red Cross ambulances were targeted. “Israeli missiles had clearly pierced the very center of the red cross on the roof of each ambulance,” Robert Fisk of The Independent (UK) wrote on July 26.

Meanwhile, U.S. war planes arrived at Israeli airbases carrying weaponry and military equipment. The American planes came from Gulf States including Qatar and Saudi Arabia, according to the Al Manar newspaper. The newspaper reported that five U.S. planes had landed in three Israeli airbases, bringing more weapons and “vacuum bombs of many sizes.”

“We are aiding and abetting war crimes,” Francis A. Boyle, professor of international law at the University of Illinois, said about the U.S. weapon shipments to Israel. “This has been planned for quite some time,” Boyle added.

On the same day that U.S. war planes delivered weapons to Israel, Israeli bombs struck a reportedly well-known and clearly marked United Nations observer post in Lebanon, killing 4 UN monitors from China, Austria, Finland and Canada.

Despite six hours of urgent calls from top UN officials in New York and its officers on the ground to the Israeli mission the base continued to come under fire and received a total of 21 strikes from the air, 12 of them artillery rounds.

UN General Secretary Kofi Annan called the Israeli attack on the Khiam
base “deliberate.”

China strongly condemned the Israeli air strike and summoned Israel’s ambassador in Beijing to demand an apology.

Asked about the attack on the UN base, Boyle said, “They do it all the time; it’s a power thing.”

Israeli officials are demanding an apology from Annan for his comments.

Tzipi Livni, the Israeli foreign minister, rejected claims that the Israeli military had intentionally targeted the UN peacekeepers. “We want it to be clear it was not a deliberate attack because Israel would never target a UN force. It is not part of our policies; it is not part of our values,” Livni said.

Livni’s statement is a bald-faced lie. Israel does target UN bases. On April 18, 1996, during the Israeli “Grapes of Wrath” aggression against Lebanon, then Prime Minister Shimon Peres, now the vice premier, ordered the precisionguided artillery shelling of the UN base at Qana (Cana) in which hundreds of Lebanese had sought shelter. Some 102 Lebanese civilians were killed in this previous deliberate attack on a UN base.

They took my daughter in. Please help!

My daughter refused to go back to Iraq for a second deployment. In the past 6 months she has been dealing with her PTSD and getting the help we need legally for her defense to get her out of the Army. We need your help.

EPD came to our house, barged in grabbed my arm and took Suzanne into custody. We need to be making some noise. Calling Peter DeFazio's office and asking him to look into getting her released. 541-465-6732. We also need to start gathering up funds for her legal defense. The EPD officers were walking around our house with flashlights and knocked. I opened the door and they asked me if she was here. They stepped into the house and I told them not to, then, I stepped in his way he grabbed my arm and twisted it around. I said you are grabbing my arm and that hurts. Then Suzanne came out and they handcuffed her and took her off to Lane County Jail. They never showed me the warrant and told me that Ft. Lewis sent them a pick up order.
She was so brave and said she would be ok, but I saw the tears in her eyes.

The FMA died today as Bush took a crushing defeat,even by many of his own republican constituants.
Of course they intend to drag this up again next month...and it will be defeated once again.
You see? this Isn't about "Gay Marriage" or the purity and sanctity of "Marriage" It's about abuse of power in an attempt to change the constitution to be discriminatory against Americans,America spoke back and it said:
Dont FUCK with the Constitution and nullify OUR rights.

The Peoples Party... is it really possible to have a peoples party at this point in time? A party who's candidate was chosen, and supported by the American people?
Yes... it really is possible. And high time if you ask me.
When I was in school they told me I could be anything I wanted. Even the president of the United States. But they never taught me how. Oh sure, we had a class president and all that, (and I seem to remember something about a cartoon bill that kept getting vetoed or something), but somehow I just don't think it's the same thing. But I have asked dozens of people (smart ones too) if they new how to go about being president if they chose to. None of them had the slightest clue. Not that I would ever want to be the president. I can't even ballance my own check book, (or remember if that cartoon bill ever got passed or not) let alone trying to balance the budget for a nation. However, I have met quite a few people along my journeys that I thought had all the attributes I would like to see in a president. Strong, responsible, honorable people, always seeming to naturally look out for the needs of others, less fortunate, and weaker than themselves, while at the same time accomplishing great feats of productivity, (including balancing their check books). Ive met them in all walks of life. All shapes, sizes, sexes, and colors. Proud Americans, all of them. According to our constitution they have the right to run for president. The only question is... how? Well check it out...

I hope all is going good with the new project. I can't express to you how much I appreciate your work. You both inspire me and give me hope that someday we the People will find our voice again and take our country back. On that note, I have a great Idea I’d like to share with you. This is an idea I’ve spent serious time thinking about. I’d like to humbly ask for your help. The idea needs shepherding from someone of your caliber. So here it is…

“The People’s Party”
A reality television game show
by Alan Abbott
Contestants will compete for a chance to run for President of the United States for the People’s Party.
Possible contestants, chosen from the general public, are asked (via television & radio) to send in a video tape or DVD, 3 minutes or less explaining why they or the person they are nominating should be considered as a presidential candidate.
The show will be run Documentary/American Idol/ style. The cameras follow each contestant on their quest. Throughout the campaign contestants and their entourage travel together, eat together, stay at the same hotels, and share the same campaign headquarters in the convention rooms at the hotels where they stay.
The American public will have the opportunity to vote for the candidate of their choice by telephone and the contestants with the lowest number of votes steps down each week.
The winner of the show wins the candidacy for the Peoples Party, and actually runs for president of the United States of America.

That is the basic idea. I see it as an entertaining way to empower the people to establish their own party, educate the public about what it takes to run for president. Most importantly, it will give the people a chance to take their country back.

I have been developing the show for over a year and have a lot more material. I didn’t want to bombard you with it all right now. I have made several trips to and from L.A. (from Maui) trying to contact you through “more appropriate means” than e-mail, but to no avail. So here we are.

This is actually the second e-mail I have sent you, but I fear the first may have gotten lost in the crowd, as I know you try to respond to all your e-mails. So just to give you a heads up, I am going to ask a few friends to give me a hand in getting your attention. After all, election time is around the corner, and I’d like you to be given the first opportunity to give the country back to the people. Hope you don’t mind. I sent this letter to Michael Moore on May 19th, 2006 but Mikes a busy guy. He is currently shooting another feature documentary, and I'm sure the shooting schedule is very labor intensive. Not ot mention the amount of e-mails the guy must get every day. Then when he does finaly get a chance to read them, I'm sure he has a priority list of some kind. Either way, he has not returned this e-mail yet.
But Michael is not the only person that is important to reach. If we are going to make a difference we have to work together, and spread the word to everyone.

I'm going to hit the road. I can't operate under the new censorship around here. The TOU geek removed a photo that I had posted in the "Political Junkies" album (and maybe a few other albums). It was one that said "Dumbfuck Mountain," a spoof on Brokeback Mountain, and showed Bush and Cheney in the starring roles.

Folks, that was political speech. It was satire. There wasn't anything obscene about it. And they have censored it. Either the TOU geeks didn't like the use of the "F" word, or they didn't like the disrespect shown for Our Dear Leaders. Apparently, only the insipid and the bland meet with their approval. What's next? Are they going to screen your posts for the "F" word? Are they going to turn over evidence of such bad behavior to the FBI, the CIA, the Pentagon, and the NSA?

I'm not going to argue with the TOU people. That would be a waste of my time. I'm just going to vote with my feet and get out of here before it gets worse. I won't be the first to have done so. And I probably won't be the last.

The existence of the Lyme disease epidemic is officially covered up in the UK, its myriad presentations routinely misdiagnosed as everything from "M.E." to MS to hypochondria. This is the first admission by a US government body that the cause is an incapacitating biowar agent.

This is the first admission by a US government body that Lyme disease is a biological warfare agent. This is the reason that hundreds of thousands of men, women and children around the world have been left to rot with wrong diagnoses, or have had their Lyme disease acknowledged but been told that it is an "easily-treated" disease, given 3 weeks' antibiotics, then told to shove off when their symptoms carried on after that.

In Britain the existence of the epidemic is denied completely, and virtually no effort made to warn or educate the public about the dangers of ticks, which carry the bacteria Borrelia burgdorferi.

The Borrelia genus has been a subject of biowar experimentation at least as far back as WW2, when the infamous Japanese Unit 731, which tortured and experimented on live prisoners, studied it.

The reality is, Lyme disease is for many a chronic, horrendous, incapacitating disease producing crippling fatigue, constant pain, loss of memory, possible paralysis, psychosis, blindness and even death.

It was an ideal biowar agent because it evades detection on routine tests, has an enormous range of different presentations, and can mimic everything from ADHD to multiple sclerosis to carpal tunnel syndrome to rheumatoid arthritis to chronic fatigue syndrome (M.E.) to lupus to schizophrenia. Enemy medical staff would never know what had hit them, nor even that ONE illness had hit their population, rather than an unexplained rise in dozens of known conditions.

Honest doctors and scientists who tried to treat or research Lyme disease according to ethical principles have been viciously persecuted by government-backed organisations in the US, Europe and elsewhere. Many specialists in the US were threatened with loss of their license or had anonymous, false allegations sent to the medical board, which tied them up in mountains of paperwork and legal fees...some were forced out of medicine or even driven to suicide.

Instead, medical disinfo agents, most of whom have a background in military/biowarfare units, such as Dr Allen Steere, Mark Klempner, Philip Baker, Edward McSweegan, David Dennis, Alan Barbour etc were enabled to assume top positions in Lyme research , CDC, NIH etc from where they issued false information , covering up the true seriousness and chronic nature of the disease, and comdemned untold numbers to a living hell

American Christians are furious over President Bush's apparent belief that Christmas celebrates the birth of Santa Claus.

At the White House Christmas Tree ceremony last week, Bush's remarks left the crowd stunned.

"Each year, we gather here to celebrate the season of hope and joy -- and to remember the story of one humble life that lifted the sights of humanity," Bush said.

And then the president -- who claims to be a born-again Christian -- turned to an actor dressed as Santa Claus and said, "Santa, thanks for coming. Glad you made it. I know you've got a lot of commitments this time of year."

The message was clear: Christmas honors the life of a humble man named Santa Claus. The Baby Jesus was never even mentioned by Bush.

Conservative news site World Net Daily gave the president a chance to back down from his outrageous claims that Christmas is only for the worship of Santa Claus.

The White House wouldn't budge.

At today's White House press briefing, WND asked [White House spokesman Scott] McClellan if the president would apologize to Christians offended by his referring to Jesus as Santa. Suggesting the administration failed to see a problem with the remark, McClellan responded, "The president meant exactly what he said."
Conservative Christians believe the president is distancing himself from the religion of Jesus. Whether it's Bush's bizarre public statements about Santa Claus or the godless "holiday season" greeting cards from the White House, those who worship the Baby Jesus say Bush has turned on them and their faith.

Christmas Confusion

Experts say it's not surprising that President Bush would be confused about the holiday. Young children are often so baffled by the mishmash of characters and traditions that most agree Santa Claus is either the father of Baby Jesus or the grown-up Baby Jesus after he moved to the North Pole.

Like a crow or a raccoon, Christmas loves to collect the shiny celebrations of any culture or religion with something festive to offer.

December 25 comes when days in the Northern Hemisphere are the shortest of the year. The earliest humans celebrated in their own primitive ways, knowing the sun would soon be back for longer and longer days, and that the cold dark winter was giving way to spring.

In ancient civilizations including Persia, Greece, India and Rome, December 25 was celebrated as the birthday of a great god and savior. This sun god went by different names -- Mithras and Sol Invictus were especially popular.

When the Roman Empire made Christianity the state religion in the 4th Century, the government renamed all the pagan festivals for characters in the new Christian Bible. This way, it was easy for everybody to "become Christian."

As there wasn't much of a story in the Gospels about the birth of Jesus -- just a few lines -- Roman bureaucrats decided to use the already popular story of Mithras' birth on December 25. Baby Mithras was born in a manger and even had a virgin mom just like gods such as Krishna, Gautama Buddha and Zoroaster. There was even a star that led some Persian sorcerers (Magi) to come bring the little baby some presents. Soon, everybody was enjoying the new "Christ Mass" as Roman priests worked around the clock to destroy all references to Mithra and Sol Invictus they could find.

As Romans tried to switch the people of Northern Europe to the new Christian religion, all kinds of great new traditions were brought to the Baby Jesus' new birthday. Yule logs, "Christmas" trees, mistletoe, reindeer pulling sleighs, drinking lots of Grog and awaiting a visit from a mysterious Yule Elf from the faery world all came from the traditions of the people who lived in darkness and cold for much of the year.

The Vikings worshipped the most powerful god of all, Thor. He rode across the ice in a sleigh pulled by longhorned goats, his big white beard flapping in the freezing wind, kept warm by a weird costume.

And a priest from Turkey named Nikolas helped write the Bible and was made a Saint after he died. Legends say he could do many tricks, such as walking on water. After his bones were moved to Italy, he became one of the most popular Saints, and was the "patron saint" of pawnbrokers, bankers, Greeks and Russians.

St. Nikolas' Day (December 6) was a beloved celebration when Europeans would exchange gifts and get drunk just like they do today. Sometimes a guy would dress up like St. Nikolas -- with his priestly Eastern robes, beard and crazy hat -- and hand out little presents to the youngsters.

But in Germany, the St. Nikolas characters were run out of town by Martin Luther, the anti-Catholic upstart who invented the Protestant churches. Martin Luther just hated how much people loved the Saints, so he banned them all. Clever Germans decided to call their St. Nikolas by a new name: Christ Child, or Christkindl -- or, "Kris Kringle." Martin Luther was probably furious, but there was nothing he could do.

The tall bearded character didn't look too much like a Baby Jesus, but it did the trick.

Before long, the Dutch (who still call St. Nikolas Sinterklass) mixed all this stuff up with the Yule Elf stories from their Nordic neighbors and taken the whole confused mess to "New Amsterdam" in North America.

Today's Santa Claus is part Roman Saint, part pagan Nordic creature, and part weird grown-up German Baby Jesus ... and that means President Bush is 100% right when he says Christmas is truly the holy time when we worship Santa Claus.

Many people refer to it as the Patriot Act! Wrong! It has nothing to do with patriotism as you and I understand it. This is a subversive attempt to re-define patriotism. If you are not using the correct grammatical configuration of an acronym, you are disseminating their propaganda FOR them!

Providing Appropriate Tools Required to Intercept and Obstruct Terrorism (PATRIOT) Get it? How about now? And guess what!? Not even the U.S.A. in the Act stands for the “United States of America”. It is an acronym for “Uniting and Strengthening America”. A small change until you begin the analysis.

This name is a product of the acronym-loving bureaucracy. We should really type it and read it as such:
"U.S.A.P.A.T.R.I.O.T. Act"
because it has absolutely nothing to do with patriotism except in the minds of those who have fallen for the endless propaganda of Karl Rove.

U.S.A.P.A.T.R.I.O.T. Act ---- Not "Patriot Act"

It may seem very fussy and nitpicky to you, but I think it is kind of a profound difference that most people just aren't getting. Yeah, it is a lot more work to type it that way, but don't you think that the people who wrote it are counting on our laziness to keep unconsciously promoting their agenda?

Bush Outrages: Let's Start A Compendium

I don't know about you, but I am starting to suffer from Bush fatigue. I'm Bushed. But I know that is just stinkin' thinkin', and I must resist such incipient sloth. I must keep my Bush-resisting groove in fine tune.

The main problem is the sheer volume of outrages and atrocities by this administration that we are confronted with every week. The number must be approaching one best expressed in scientific notation (which I never learned very well in school).

In days of yore, the public would be confronted with scant few outrages to bitch about during any given presidential administration. Only the occasional Teapot Dome (Harding), Checkers-speech-prompting fundraising scam (Nixon under Eisenhower), botched Bay of Pigs (Kennedy), trumped-up Tonkin Gulf (Johnson), Pentagon Papers (Nixon), Watergate (Nixon), botched Iran rescue (Carter), Iran-Contra (Reagan), Willie Horton ad (Bush pere), and Blue Dress Stain (Clinton) would divert our citizenry's sustained attention away from its normal producing, consuming, shitting, showering and shaving.

But W. OMG. The outrages started even before he took office. What he did to John McCain in the 2000 South Carolina primary (phoning voters with the story that McCain sired an illigitimate brown baby) set the motif for the endless theme and variations that has followed. To say that Bush is a lying sack of shit is an insult to all sacks of shit everywhere. He brings new meaning to that role. To say that the electoral process that installed him in 2000 was an electoral process insults all presidential electoral processes that preceded it.

I would like to develop a list of the bad things this bad man has done. Just so I can keep it straight in my head, and so it all does not wash down the memory hole. I need your help with this. Let's confine the list to things that have been done or intentionally left undone during Bush's administrations (thereby omitting such matters as his hot-iron branding of frat-pledge buttocks at Yale and his AWOL National Guard status). So here goes. I wil start, in no particular order of importance or chronology, and I will attribute to Bush the acts and omissions of his agents, capos, and legislative toadies (because the buck stops -- where?):

- Torture at Abu Ghraib

- Torture at Guantanamo

- Torture all over the planet in an archipelago of secret gulags

- Torture justified in ridiculous legal memorandum

- Elevation of signer of said memorandum to Attorney General

- Ignoring the pre-911 Daily Press Briefings

- Patriot Act

- Lying us into the Iraq War (no WMD, no al Qaida tie-in)

- Katrina response

- Bullshit speech at New Orleans' Jackson Square, adding insulting hope to injury

- Refusal to sign up for International Court of Justice (because he knew he would be committing war crimes)

- Tax breaks for the wealthiest, even while marching off to war

- Did I mention massive budget deficits? After he was handed a huge budget surplus by Clinton. Bush has the Midas touch in reverse - everything he has ever touched has turned to shit. Every business (don't mention the Texas Rangers - he traded Sosa). Every political office (just ask Texans)

- Speaking of which, what about that Wolfowitz guy (who said Iraq would pay for its own war)? Now he heads the World Bank!

Apply for an appointment to the Administration, either Karl Rove's job, or as VP. Let George know that since these guys will be resigning soon, he will be needing an honest replacement!

It's the least we can do as loyal Americans. And just think, when you get Karl's job, you get to tell George what to do! You could personally stop the war in Iraq, how cool is that?

LONDON (AFP) - US President George W. Bush allegedly said God told him to invade Iraq and Afghanistan, a new BBC documentary will reveal, according to details released here.

Bush made the claim when he met Palestinian leader Mahmud Abbas and then foreign minister Nabil Shaath in June 2003, the ministers told the documentary series to be broadcast in Britain later this month.

The US leader also told them he had been ordered by God to create a Palestinian state, the ministers said Friday.

Shaath, now the Palestinian information minister, said: "President Bush said to all of us: 'I'm driven with a mission from God.

'God would tell me, 'George, go and fight those terrorists in Afghanistan'.'

"And I did, and then God would tell me, 'George, go and end the tyranny in Iraq...' And I did.

Ever notice how base and inarticulate Republicans who support bush are. I guess they feel if they can "shock" people with their profane and meaningless words we won't notice so much of the inherent corruptness of the Bush Administration.
I wonder if they will ever learn that Bush has already "shocked" us awake by his groundless little wars and destruction of Democracy here for anything they say or do to make any real impact. Just shows what I've always thought it takes a small mind to be able to revere a small president such as bush.
